Martin Sokk was an early joiner in TransferWise and was part of the leadership team helping TransferWise to grow from a small startup to £1B+ volume a month and 700+ people strong company. His main focus was to build the best product and organization which could scale with the company's ambitions. Being fascinated by how to help people grow into leaders, Martin also took on positions in leading Operations and later Human Resources. After leaving TransferWise in 2017, Martin has been traveling, running ultra-marathons and helping people to grow their startups. Some of the people he has personally mentored have nicknamed him as "hooandja" ("accelerator" in English). He has found that helping others to achieve their dreams gives him the most joy.
At the Brave New World, Martin will share his view on the Future of Work. As technology continues to remove simpler jobs, the abilities to think and create become more valuable. Successful businesses will soon realise that investments into people will bring greater returns than in any other area. Forward-looking companies will create an environment where people are encouraged to learn and start spending more time with their people. Bad companies outsource some random HR company to educate their workforce and hope for the best.
